Sprouts Academy Preschool's EDUCATION philosophy is a very progressive one that is also used at other top preschools in Chicago and throughout the country including the University of Chicago Lab Schools. Sprouts Academy's overall education approach is the Emergent Curriculum, a play-based approach to learning in which teachers collaborate with children and facilitate learning experiences. Our educators utilize Teaching Strategies Gold, a sophisticated online program that allows for meaningful documentation of student's work and play endeavors.

NUTRITION

Sprouts Academy Preschool's NUTRITION philosophy focuses on serving only locally grown, organic food containing no pesticides or preservatives. The "seed-to-table" food cycle is learned at the nearby Urban Farm.

As one of our Social Giveback projects, 75% of our Urban Farm harvest is donated to the Chicago Food Depository to feed the hungry.

ENVIRONMENT

Sprouts Academy Preschool's ENVIRONMENT philosophy includes using only non-toxic and zero VOC paint throughout the school, recycling about 90% of the school's output, and using natural materials such as cork and wheatboard, both eco-friendly and free from formalhehyde. Our full spectrum fluorescent lights are low energy and healthier for children. Classroom materials and art activities use recycled content, and daily cleaning is done using non-toxic materials or steam devices.
