Kaylie Kettler – B.A. Early Childhood Education – Co-Lead Teacher Rockstars

My name is Kaylie Kettler and I am a Co-lead teacher at Sprouts Academy. I recently graduated from DePaul University with Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education with a minor in Theater Studies. I received my type 04 teaching certificate in June 2011.

In the past, I have volunteered in multiple schools all over Michigan and Chicago, through tutoring programs, observations and high school programs. Jumpstart is a program that prepares three to five year old children for kindergarten through mentoring and one-on-one exploration of literacy and social-emotional skills. I participated in this program through DePaul for three years and continued to help with paperwork and materials preparation for the program for another year. Along with having a profile on a babysitting website, I also spent a few months at a Bright Horizons back-up daycare as a substitute teacher.

While my main passion is with children and helping them realize their own potential, I also love theater and hope to bring some ideas from my theater classes into the classroom as well. I love watching the children and teachers explore with the natural and recycled materials at Sprouts, every time I turn around someone in the school is doing something I have never thought to try. I absolutely love that I really do learn something new every time I enter the school but what I most look forward to doing is continuing to get to know the children in Sprouts Academy, as well as, their families and the other teachers. Getting to know the passions and skills of the people in this community is, to me, the most exciting part of working at Sprouts Academy.
