Julie Christou – M.A. Art Education (in progress) – Associate Director (Enrichment)

What a privilege it is to be apart of the staff at Sprouts Academy! I very much support the school’s philosophy on diet, environment, and social responsibility and look forward to supporting your family in your nutritional needs. Additionally, I am delighted to lead the Smithsonian enrichment class, encouraging our relationship with the world-renowned institution, by creating enhanced times of learning with art, history, and science, and bringing the very best in early childhood practices to the teaching staff through professional development. I spent almost a decade with the Smithsonian, teaching in their model museum-based education program for young children, building on my undergraduate degrees in Child Development and Psychology, looking particularly at the links between creativity and cognitive development. Graduate school brought me to Chicago, where I am working on my Masters degree in Art Education at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC, 2013 Masters Candidate). I am most creative in the kitchen and look forward to bringing my enthusiasm, experience, and education to our community. Both in & out of the classroom, I believe a pinky promise is a binding contract, everything is better with a sprinkle of cinnamon, and a wise teacher makes learning a joy! Bon Appetit!
