Ms. Nikki – Teachers Assistant
Hello Sprouts Families!
As a passionate teacher devoted to sustainability and emergent curriculum, I am ecstatic to be joining the Redwoods classroom and co-teach with the wonderful Ms. Jen. I am joining you from a position where I created and implemented Reggio Emilia based programming for a kindergarten extended day program. I have seen how arts integrated, child centered environments empower children, it is just one of the many reasons I love this work. My interdisciplinary degree in creative nonfiction writing and early childhood education from Columbia College reflects my values of holistic, engaging teaching methods that recognize children as capable individuals. I am also heavily involved in volunteer work, from Habitat to Humanity to teaching in Cambodia I devote time to building partnership and advocacy for a better world. In my free time I also do visual arts (working with sustainable materials such as natural dyes and cardboard) and writing. As a teacher I believe it is important to nurture ourselves as whole human beings in order to model this for the students. I look forward to the fun filled days ahead!
